One Web To Rule Them All

The web is supposed to be the great democratiser, but what happens if you don't have a web browser? Anybody should be able to access any web content, service or application using any type of connected device from anywhere at any time, but the current reality is far from this. Join Den Odell, Head of Web Development at AKQA, as he envisions a "One Web" future, the ultimate form of Responsive Design where sites truly adapt to their users' devices, needs and context, a future where user interfaces reach beyond the browser to create an optimal experience for everyone, all built to W3C web standards.

Incredible 3D CSS Transforms

CSS Transforms are great for transitioning elements around a web page, but what if we told you they could be used to represent and animate polygons, 3D shapes and surfaces without using a single line of JavaScript? In this talk, maths-whizz Ana Tudor will demonstrate how she was able to build an animating 3D shape which explodes out into a more complex shape before returning back to its original state, all using pure CSS. Prepare to have your mind blown.

Simplicity is the key to speed

In these days of websites built on top of libraries built on top of frameworks built on top of hacks, have we lost our way? After all, users just want a site that works fast. It doesn't matter how beautiful it looks if no one sticks around long enough to get past the loading screen. Join Scott Van Looy, Technical Architect at AKQA, as he guides us through his process for building beautiful, creatively rich websites that load super-fast – with real-world proof.
